What is your first memory?

Posted on Jan 28th, 2008 by Courtney : Seeker of Knowledge and Dreams Come True Courtney
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 28, 2008:

I actually have a two memories that occurred around the same time.  The first is a trip to England that my family took when I was about one years old.  We stayed with my mother's family and I slept in my cousin's room.  She had this four foot doll house, that would have been the coolest thing in the world, if the dolls weren't the creepiest thing in the world.  I remember her making them talk and dance, and being so terrified by them that I couldn't sleep at night for fear they would attack.

My other memory from that trip involves all our relatives showering my brother and I in chocolate.  My uncle especially, gave us tons of giant cadbury eggs.  I recall him placing it down in front of me and being so frustrated that I was to little to open the box or eat the chocolate.  It's the only memory I have of him, and I'm glad it's a good one.

My other memory takes place right after got back home.  We went to my cousin's house to give them souvenirs from the trip. My cousin, who couldn't have been older than five, thought she'd take me down to the basement and play house with me. She had this bright red and yellow plastic kitchen and all the plastic food that went with it. She was to play mummy and I baby, and as such she took it upon herself to dress me up in her doll's clothes. All I was supposed to do was sit there and suck on a piece of plastic food with the dog, who was the daddy, while she pretended to cook. Well the dog didn't like that idea very much, and decided to grab the frilly skirt of my dress and pull me around the basement. Eventually the adults came to the rescue, but not before the dog tore the dress off me--a thing I never got to thank him for. As my mum was checking me over, I remember my cousin crying and my uncle telling her that it wasn't her fault the dog pulled me around. The last thing I recall is my cousin telling my uncle that she wasn't crying about me, but over her doll's best dress that was now ruined. She never did play dress up with me again. To risky of an activity I suppose.

Hi All,
I'm looking forward to seeing what this group has to offer.  There are so many things wrong in the world today, it will be nice to discuss ideas of change with others.  Maybe one day we can save the world.  One can hope.
